Program Overview

Putnam Youth Basketball is a competitive basketball program serving girls and boys in 3rd-8th Grade. PYB is the direct feeder for Putnam High School in Milwaukie, OR. The season runs from early November through early to mid March.  Our competitive season will be primarily composed of tournaments, however some teams may play a combination of single games and tournaments.  We are targeting 6 tournaments for this season, with each tournament having about 4 games.  Teams may also play a few individual games. Teams that qualify for state tournaments could play into early mid-March. Players that do not make a team are encouraged to play NCPRD Hoopers or i9.

Season Fees

Registration and season fees are $350 by October 15th if your player is selected to a team.

Full and Partial Scholarships are available.  Please email registrar@pybl.org for any questions regarding registration or scholarships.

Uniform Fees

Uniforms for the 2024-2025 season are NEW!  All players will need to purchase a new uniform.

The uniform cost is $81 and is separate from the season fees.  Uniform orders will be due November 10th.

Practices
Teams will start practicing the first week of November.   Each team typically will have 3 - 90-minute practices per week until games start, with 2 weekday evening practices and 1 Friday/Saturday practice. Most teams will switch to 2 practices per week in January, however some older teams may still practice 3 days per week for the season.

Games
Games will be primarily on the weekends.  On tournament weekends, parents should expect to attend games on Saturday and Sunday.  Because many of these tournaments are school fundraisers, parents and spectators should also plan to pay daily entry fees in order to watch the games.  Some teams may instead play a League Schedule with the option to add some games or Tournaments with a goal of reaching 20 games for the season (teams that qualify for State could play upwards of 30 games).

Games and tournaments are generally played in the greater Portland area and surrounding suburbs. For example, this season we expect players to be in Lake Oswego, Tigard, Sherwood, Wilsonville, Canby, Salem, Vancouver and Portland for tournaments in addition to other cities.  Some teams may also go to Seaside in February, which hosts popular weekend tournaments throughout the winter. If teams qualify, they may also travel to either Salem or Central Oregon for State Championship Tournaments.
